Defenses and Farm days

This past Friday, Tara successfully defended her PhD thesis in St. John's. When she booked the ticket to go there, I encouraged her to book some extra days after her defense (as it was on a Friday afternoon), and spend some time re-acquainting with St. John's. I expect she'll highlight some of that next week, but in the meantime the kids and I loaded up and drove to the farm for the weekend -- something that we can do relatively easily now that we're back on the East coast. What follows is a brief photo essay of some of our adventures.

Linden was so anxious to help Grandpa do the haying he marched right out to the field with a pitchfork the moment we pulled in the driveway

Juniper joined us, once she realized that she could read more of her book later.

A paddle up into Marley creek to check out the beaver dam. Linden's paddling skills were pretty good!

Watching the geese from the beach with Grandma

What could be better than an Autumn driftwood fire on the beach?

It was such a nice day, we decided to take the boat out to explore Caton's Island.

Peek-a-boo!

Grandpa's massive sunflower.

Digging for supper.

We found a new pet on the drive home.

See you next week!
